mindfulness made simple

Today, I had one of those days where I “noticed” more…enjoyed more…and felt more fulfilled that I have in a while. As I was thinking through my day, I jotted down 3 things I think made a world of difference and I want to share them with you!

So often we think being mindful or present requires way more time, energy, patience, “zen-ness”, etc than it really does.

Maybe we don’t practice mindfulness because we assume we don’t have any extra of the above ingredients? I know that’s how I thought about mindfulness most days.

Here are 3 simple ways to prove that you, YES YOU, can be mindful in your daily routine:

1) Focus on consistency rather than length when it comes to “taking a breath”, meditating, praying, or quieting your mind. Even 30-60 seconds can be the reset you need.

2) Begin each morning with gratitude. Jot something you are thankful for on your notes app on your phone, journal, or say it aloud.

3) Commit to a daily self-care habit or ritual. This reminds you that you matter and are worthy of being taken care of. When you are loved, you can love others well. My favorites are: a good workout, bubble bath, lighting a candle, or learning via audiobooks.

A few practical things that may help you are: a journal like this one, watching Headspace on Netflix, or playing a 4K ocean sound video on YouTube.

Cheers to enjoying this life we’ve been given!
