6 month baby essentials

POOF! Just like that, six months with Lolo has come and gone. I wanted to jot down some of the products we have been using and Lolo has been loving. Of course I can only share what works for us, and every baby is different, but my hope is that for those of you who are expecting or have a newborn…this blog can help prepare and guide you + save you TIME (because I guarantee you currently do not have enough of it 😝)

sleeping:

Lolo sleeps in this crib (converts to be used until child is 7), with this braided bumper from Etsy. Before she rolled over, she loved this Magic Sleepsuit in the size small. After rolling over, we switched her to this Magic Sleepsack. We have this lovie in her crib, and an extra one for her naps in the car. She uses these binkies and loves them. We throw 3-4 in her crib and she generally finds one easily if she wakes and can put herself back to sleep. We love the Hatch sound machine. A little hack is Troy and I use the same sound on the same machine in our primary bedroom, so when we travel and have to share a room, the whole family is acclimated to the same sound! We also ordered blackout curtains in Lolo’s room when we got our whole house done, which makes a huge difference.

diapering:

We use the top of her dresser as her changing table. We got her changing pad off Amazon, and use these disposable liners - LOVE. So much easier to switch a liner than wash the changing pad cover. Lolo is currently in size 3 diapers, we use these ones. We love this wipe warmer and use these wipes. I high suggest using A&D cream with every diaper change. We got this tip from her pediatrician - it really helps prevents rashes. For diaper bag, middle of the night changes, or in a rush changes - you gotta get this diaper spray in SPRAY FORM. No white gunk on your fingers. Genius. We use this paste on her before she goes to sleep, it is thick and really prevents rashes. We also use these special overnight diapers for comfortability, and absorption for her 12 hour snooze.

feeding

My goal was to breastfeed until 6 months, and I made it! Every mama and baby’s feeding journey is unique, just like mine, and I am really thankful I got to breastfeed/pump for 6 months. I’ll quickly go through all the products I used while transitioning to formula, and then our current set up. I used the Willow Pump. It was SO NICE not to be hooked up with tubes and wires. Pro tip: be sure to measure your nipple, I guessed and got the wrong size flange, and had to re-order the right size (you can’t return once used, which makes sense). I used this warmer to warm the breastmilk. We slowly starting supplementing with this formula. The liquid form is perfect if mixing with breastmilk. Once we were completely on formula we switched to powder for the Baby Brezza which makes life so easy. We like this boon grass, and clean bottles with this brush, then sanitize in this sanitizer. Lolo is eating all sorts of mashed foods, so we like this mini cup and spoon, these glass containers for storing leftovers, these fruit/veggie pouches, this rice cereal, this mini cup/straw, and this bib.

clothing

We typically dress Lolo in neutral clothing that is comfortable and easy for her to roll around in. Some of our favorite are: this, and this, from Amazon, anything from Little One Shop (use code: APRIL20), and this from Monica + Andy (use code: AP20 until end of August, then it expires). Our favorite bows are baby bling, and these from Amazon. The really big ones she wears are also from Amazon, you can get them here. Oh, can’t forget about the ONLY socks that stay on, these ones.

playtime

Lolo loves this walker, and this crawling helper. She also loves chomping on this toothbrush, and this teether. This is also a fun toy but quite big, so probably not one to travel with. I like to spread a bunch of toys around my office and let her roll around trying to crawl to get them. She also lounges in this with some toys if she’s in a chill mood. We also like these play mats to bring to whatever room we are hanging in to make it soft for her to roll around (most of our main floor is hardwood). Lolo still loves going on walks, and just 10 minutes of fresh air makes everyone feel better. I wear her in this carrier (works up to 25 lbs), or this wrap - just depends what we are up to.

bath

We bath Lolo every other day in this bathtub, and she loves this toy. We only give her the toy in the bath, so she gets SO excited to play with it. These cups are a must! The blue one to rinse, the little ones for Lolo to play with, and the green one makes rain, and Lolo loves it. She uses this towel, and if you purchase here you can use code: APRIL. Nothing special for shampoo or body wash, been happy with these. We put 4 drops of this essential oil (you can purchase through me here) and we think it helps everyone breath better before bed. After the bath, we lube her up with almond oil, and put this balm on Lolo’s face. She uses this to detangle her hair.

books

There are so many great books out, but here are three that we read every day at this stage: If Animals Kissed Goodnight, Cutie I Pray (you can save $5, by clicking here), Baby Animals (contrast book). I have heard some babies love books, but others don’t want to sit still - Lolo enjoys them at bedtime while she is drinking her bottle. This is a fun book that is more about touching than reading if you have a baby on the go. Also, a family member gifted us a Literati membership which was also really nice, and a great gift.

travel

We have traveled twice via airplane with Lolo so far, and boy do you learn quickly what works and what doesn’t 😅 We love the Doona and highly recommend. We also really enjoys this snack spinner to keep her busy. We use this formula dispenser, and ask for hot water in a cup filled halfway to warm up distilled water, then dump the formula in. We try to feed her on the way up and on the way down to help her ears. We also keep baby Tylenol in her diaper bag for any rough patches along the way. I normally keep a Solly Baby Wrap in my diaper bag, but and have only used it once on the plane. You just have to take the baby out for takeoff and landing. We are comfortable using the hotel’s pack n play and just bring our own sheets, but you can also easily travel with one too, we own this one.

visuals/music

Lolo really enjoys Canticos on YouTube in the morning while she drinks her bottle. They are Spanish songs with really cute characters. She hangs out in this bassinet, and this lounger positioned so she can see the TV. This is perfect because I can get my coffee or pre-workout going and get breakfast made. She is becoming more intrigued with our phones but we haven’t let her “watch” anything on our phones or any other screen time…yet. When we are playing together, we normally just have Alexa play Justin Bieber in the background and that keeps her happy.

misc

Love the Wonder Weeks app, this coffee maker, and we followed takingcarababies and babywise loosely to sleep train Lolo.

Hope this helps…you got this mama! You can always email or DM me any questions you may have!
